DONATE NOW TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT

We are excited to introduce Nourishing Connections, an initiative by The Henry Project dedicated to bringing people together through the power of food. Cooking and sharing meals can be a profound source of healing, resilience, and connection—especially for those who have faced unimaginable challenges due to war.

Nourishing Connections was founded on the belief that food is a universal language of care, comfort, and togetherness. Our goal is to create safe, welcoming spaces where people affected by war—veterans, civilians, and those recovering from trauma—can reconnect with themselves and others through the art of cooking and sharing meals.

Through this program, we aim to:

Promote emotional and mental well-being by providing a supportive environment where participants can express themselves and bond through food.

Encourage social reintegration by fostering teamwork and communication during the cooking process.

Develop practical life skills by teaching participants how to prepare meals, enhancing their sense of independence and confidence.

Create moments of joy and community by celebrating shared experiences and traditions around the dinner table.

Why Food?

Food has the power to heal in ways that extend far beyond nourishment. The simple act of cooking and eating together builds connection, trust, and a sense of belonging. In a world where trauma and displacement can leave individuals feeling isolated, sharing a meal can break down barriers, rekindle traditions, and offer a sense of normalcy and comfort.

For individuals recovering from physical and psychological trauma, engaging in hands-on activities like cooking can also serve as a therapeutic outlet—helping to restore fine motor skills, encourage mindfulness, and provide a sense of accomplishment. Nourishing Connections leverages these benefits to help restore dignity and foster resilience among those who need it most.
