Bringing a Little Light to St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv

This Easter, The Henry Project had the opportunity to bring a small moment of light to the children at St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv. With a little help from a familiar friend—the Easter Bunny—we spent the day delivering hand-decorated cookies, sharing laughter, and creating simple moments of joy for kids undergoing treatment.

The cookies we brought weren’t just any cookies. They were decorated by children from Safe Place UA, a community space where displaced and vulnerable children can find safety, friendship, and creativity. Each cookie was carefully designed by a child’s hands, bright with color, full of imagination, and crafted with the hope of making someone else’s day a little better.

As we moved through the hospital halls, the atmosphere shifted. For a few moments, medical routines gave way to smiles and giggles. Children reached out to hug the Easter Bunny, posed for photos, and picked out their favourite cookies.

The staff at St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital were incredible partners in making the visit possible. They create an environment where children and families feel supported, even in the most difficult circumstances. We’re grateful to them for welcoming us into their day and trusting us to add a little something extra to it.

We also want to extend our deepest thanks to Safe Place UA. Their willingness to involve the children in a project that was about giving, not just receiving, added something beautiful to the day. The kids at Safe Place UA decorated cookies not for themselves, but for others—a reminder that even in times of uncertainty, compassion can flourish.

At The Henry Project, we often talk about the importance of human connection, especially in places where hope can sometimes feel fragile. It doesn’t always take grand gestures to build that connection. Sometimes, it’s a cookie shared between two strangers. Sometimes, it’s a hug for a bunny. Sometimes, it’s just the simple knowledge that someone else is thinking of you.

And in those moments, something small becomes something meaningful.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, and to the kids who reminded us once again that even the smallest acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact.
